Here is the very first portrait of Winston Spencer Churchill done by the artist, from a WWII black and white picture.
Although it is a famous photograph, the place, author and exact time are unknown to the artist. The thick coat, probably the one exhibited at Chartwell, would suggest it was taken somewhere cold, in wintry climes.
Would it be during the Yalta Conference, in early February 1945?
Anyhow, the artist feels pleased more than angry at those few people who used images of this painting to illustrate the content of their websites.
It must be said that Churchill's unyielding pout, often likened to that of a bulldog, is particularly well rendered...
